Why Eco-Friendly is the way to go!

12 Reasons to take care of the earth:

  • So our kids will always enjoy our natural wonders; the grand canyon, Old faithful, our beautiful rivers, lakes, streams & oceans.
  • So that the Amazon's plant life and animal species continue to flourish.
  • So that we can continue to see elephants, whales, ducks, lions and all of natures wonderful animals.
  • So that the penguins will always be able to carry their young ones safely on a glacier.
  • So that the giant Panda's retain their habitat
  • So that the ocean's whales, and dolphins have a clean home to frolic in.
  • So that the great Barrier Reef remains rife with coral, fish & sea turtles.
  • So that the air our children breath will be clean and free of toxins
  • So that our land will be a healthy, safe place to raise our families.

FAQ'S:

Q) You say your "eco-friendly". . .what exactly does this mean for a photographer?

A) Yes! I love caring about our enviornment! It really makes me feel like I am part of the solution, not the problem.I use professional digital equipment that eliminates the use of film, and the chemicals used to develop it. I use natural, clean & candle light sources as much as possible to do my photography, which of course means a lot of outdoor shots, or shots in a room well lit with windows. I also offer with my packages, all images to be put on a CD and an online proof gallery, so as paper & ink is not wasted on pictures that you may not want. I have printing packages that are small in size and can be customized to the clients liking, again so that no materials are wasted on unwanted prints. At home for my daily printing use and for business purposes use 100% recycled paper.

Q) Eco-friendly. . .does that mean you will not be able to photograph my indoor event?

A) Absolutely! I WILL do indoor shots for events, wedding ceremonies and in cases where weather or circumstance (ex: for young infants-INDOORS) will not allow for an outdoor shoot. There are more options than one thinks to getting great indoor shots without the use of artificial lighting.

Q) In an ideal situation, how would you like your subjects to respond to a photoshoot with you?

A) Well to be very honest, I feel most comfortable behind my camera, when my clients aren't necessarily paying full attention to the camera and let themselves go. That is when I see the most magic in a person's eyes, or a child's face, and that is the shot I want to capture.

Q) I am a model. I am worried that outdoor shots will not be "professional" enough for my portfolio.

A) A model MUST be able to photograph in any kind of setting. All professional models shoot outdoors frequently. In fact, natural sunlight is the most pure unforgiving light there is, so if you have an amazing outdoor shot in your portfolio, it is sure to capture the modelling agent's eye - even more so than an indoor artifically lighted & enhanced photograph, because it shows variety & the ability to remain professional even in a different setting other than a studio.

A) What kind of props do you use, if any?

Q) Yes! I love props! I am kind of a Victorian freak, so you will find that a lot of my props for children are Victorian/vintage items. However, I do not as of yet have any larger background props. As the majority of my work is done outdoors, I find that the nature behind the photograph is enough of a prop to go a long way in making it a beautiful image.

Q) Why are your prices so affordable?

A) I don't believe that you should have to go broke in order to get a great service. I am also an excited young photographer just starting out, and I want to make my services as accessable as possible to those who appreciate my work!

Getting Ready For Your Outdoor Photo-shoot: Tips

LOOK PICTURE PERFECT -Tips on getting ready for natural source lighting photography.

Natural sunlight is the purest light there is. What you see is what you get, so keep your makeup soft and neutral.

SKIN:

Foundation should be used sparingly, just where you have blemishes to cover up. Typically just around your nose, mouth and chin.

EYES:

Instead of lining your eyes with black eyeliner, try a dark brown shade. Apply powder to shadow close to the base of the lashes to create a smudgy line; this is more flattering for photos instead of using traditional pencil or liquid liner.

CHEEKS & LIPS:

Choose soft muted colors, and avoid deep or dark shades of both blush and gloss.
